Understanding and Knowing the Times and Seasons 1 Chron. 12:32

What does this mean?  Who are they?  You will not find the term Intercessors of Issachar as a phrase in the Bible but let us reason together according to scripture.

Issachar in Hebrew means He will bring reward.  According to Gen. 35:23, Issachar is the fifth son of Leah and the ninth son of Jacob.  Gen. 49: 14&15 (Amp.)  Issachar is a strong boned donkey crouching down between the sheepfolds.  And he saw that rest was good and that the land was pleasant; and he bowed his shoulder to bear (his burdens) and became a servant to tribute (subjected to forced labor.).

Gen 49:14 (KJV) Issachar is a strong ass crouching down between two burdens.

Gen 49:14 (NIV) Issachar is a rawboned (strong) donkey lying down between two saddlebags. (or campfires)

In Gen 49, Jacob is speaking blessing and prophetic utterances over each of his sons and there generations.  There are only two sons (two tribes) that he speaks to of the donkey, that of Judah in verses 8-12 and of Issachar in verses 14 and 15.  Donkey in Hebrew means under the yoke.  Donkey also means burden bearer or beast of burden.  The donkey was used for ploughing; was a sign of the peaceful mission of Christ; was an acceptable vessel used even to carry kings, priests, judges, nobles and the chosen vessel used to carry our high priest and king-Jesus Christ on Palm Sunday.

Gen 49:8 says, Judah, you are the one whom your brothers shall praise; your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your fathers sons shall bow down to you.

In this we see that praise and warfare go hand in hand with carrying both burden and good news.  Praise, warfare, intercession (bearing the burdens), tying into the vine (Jesus) through the Blood via the garden of Gesthemene results in answered prayer or the burden being carried through.

1 Chron. 12:32 (Amp) says, And of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do, 200 chiefs and all of their kinsmen were under their command.

1 Chron. 12:32 (KJV), And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do,….

1 Chron. 12:38 (NIV) All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks.

1 Chron. 12:38 (Amp) All these being men of war arrayed in battle order,… These tribes were called to do battle for the sake of righteousness and to advance the kingdom at hand.  Issachar had many volunteers, people called of God to join ranks with him in the battle.

What was required of the individual;

OBEDIENCE PERSEVERANCE DISCIPLINE COMMITMENT.

Ezek. 22:30 And I sought a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.

Isa. 58:12 And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.

Isa. 61:4 And they shall rebuild the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former desolations and renew the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations.

2 Chron. 7:14 If my people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chron. 20:3, 4 Then Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself (determinedly, as his vital need) to seek the Lord; he proclaimed a fast in all Judah.  And Juday gathered together to ask help from the Lord; even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord (yearning for Him with all their desire).

Isa. 58:6 (Rather) is not this the fast that I have chosen; to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every enslaving yoke?

What is required of us in this day?  In this battle we find ourselves in?  As intercessors today, even as in Issachars day we must walk in: DISCIPLINE COMMITMENT PERSEVERANCE OBEDIENCE to the call of God and join together in rank so that we can: 1] stand in the gap 2] be the repairers of the breach 3] rebuild ancient ruins 4] humble ourselves and repent on behalf of our land 5] fast and seek the Lord in order to be effective in advancing the kingdom of God in the areas He calls the Intercessors of Issachar to take part in.

How does this relate to us?  Lets see ……
Luke 22:39-44 (vs.43&44) And there appeared to Him an angel from heaven, Strengthening Him in spirit.  And being in agony (of mind), He prayed (all the) more earnestly and intently, and His sweat became like great clots of blood dropping down upon the ground.

Rom. 8:26, 27&34B So too the (Holy) Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our Weakness;… the Spirit Himself pleads in our behalf…Jesus,…  Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us?

Heb. 7:25b …since He is always living to make petition to God and intercedes with Him and interevenes for them.

Job 16:21 Oh, that there were one who might plead for a man with God and that he might maintain his right with Him, as a son of man pleads with or for his neighbor.

There is comfort in knowing that as we bear the burdens, carry them through (as the donkey lies among the sheep and yet does not disturb them), are pressed at times even unto sacrifice; We have One who is interceding for us, has shed His Blood Drops of Intercession for us and will strengthen us in spirit (even as the angel strengthened Him) as we give these burdens back to Him.  He is the Great Burden Beared, the Greatest of Intercessors, the One whos example we follow.  He knows the season and has understanding of the times.  We look to Him…. Jesus Christ.

PRINCIPLES FOR EFFECTIVE INTERCESSION (as taught by Joy Dawson)

1. Praise God for who He is.  Gods power is especially released through worshipful song.  As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against (the enemy), and they were defeated (2 Chronicles 20:22) Praise God for the privilege of engaging in the same ministry as Jesus, as you cooperate with Him in prayer relating to the affairs of men. ….he always lives to intercede for them. (Hebrews 7:25b)

2. Make sure your heart is clean before God by giving the Holy Spirit time to convict, should you have any unconfessed sin.  If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened
(Psalm 66:18) Reference Psalm 139:23, 24 Mark 11:25 and v24

3. Acknowledge that you cant really pray effectively without the Holy Spirit enabling you to do so.  ….the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We don not know what we ought to pray for (Romans 8:26b)  ….be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18b).

4. Deal aggressively with the enemy.  Come against him in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ and with the sword of the Spirit —- the Word of God.
Submit yourselves, then, to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

5. Die to your own imaginations, desires and burdens for what you feel you should pray.  The need for this act of the will is clearly stated as follows:…. Lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5b);  He who trusts in his own mind is a fool  (Proverbs 28:26a RSV); For my thoughts are not your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8a)

6. Praise God now in faith for the amazing prayer time youre going to have.  (F.B.R.)  He is a remarkable God and will do something consistent with his character.

7. Wait before God in silent expectancy, listening for His direction.  But my people would not listen to me: Israel would not submit to Me.  So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their won devices.  If my people would but listen to me.  If Israel would follow my ways.  (Psalm 81:11-13)  ref. Psalm 62:5 and Micah 7:7.

8. In obedience and faith, take action on what God brings to your mind, believing.  My sheep listen to my voice…. And they follow me  (John 10:27) I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go: I will counsel you and watch over you (Psalm 32:8)

9. If possible, have your Bible with you should God want to give you direction or confirmation through His Word.  Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path (Psalm 119:105)

10. When God ceases to bring things to your mind for which to pray, finish by praising and thanking Him for what He has done, being reminded that …from him and through him and to him are all things.  To him be the glory forever!  Amen (Romans 11:36)

PRAYER PARTNERSHIP STRATEGY working together as LEVELS OF PRAYER SUPPORT

Prayer partnerships represent God’s heart in team ministry with both OFFENSIVE and DEFENSIVE scriptural strategies.

It is definitely not God’s plan that we should labour alone. The Lord can transfer His heart and strategy to intercessors that are committed to standing in the gap. Please refer to the website under Intercessors of Issachar as it relates to Jacob and Leah’s son Issachar. As Jacob is speaking blessings and prophetic utterances over each of his sons and their generations the only two referred to as related to the donkey (burden bearer) were Judah and Issachar.

The greatest defense is a strong offense. Moses was able to be successful in the assignment the Lord gave him concerning Joshua as Aaron and Hur came alongside him.

As the RLM sphere of influence in the Kingdom increases and we contend for God’s will to be done on earth, the kingdom of darkness goes about to hinder and frustrate our work and the work of those working in ‘the fields’ around the world. The enemy wages war against this ministry through trials, tests, temptations and targets our body, soul, spirit as well as our loved ones.

LEVEL ONE group of intercessors and prayer partners and LEVEL TWO group of prayer partners may have one focus or more than one focus targets of prayer.

LEVEL ONE group target prayer focus will be for Ray, Leslie, and families as well as the ministry.

LEVEL TWO group target prayer focus will be for one or both NATIONS and/or CANADA as well as the ministry concerning each one. For example, there are those that have a heart and call specific to Canada and those who have a stronger call to pray for the Nations. Some will have the heart of prayer for both the nations and Canada.

Both will have a heart for Ray and Leslie and the ministry of Resurrection Life.

A prayer partner prays for you. An intercessor hears God and prays God’s heart for you.


Intercessor qualities include:

Core quality is LOVE. Those who love us as the leaders will make the sacrifice of time and energy to intercede for us and love will protect our hearts from criticism.

Ability to respect confidential information and can be trusted with personal matters that often require the most prayer.

Availability. For those who are overcommitted may have good intentions but, may not actually be able to hold us up in prayer.

Humility – that is not looking for recognition. Those who seek recognition may find they become highly disappointed and then sometimes highly critical of the leaders and the ministry. They are willing to stay behind the scenes.

Strong Christian character, persons of integrity are more important than how much they know how to pray.


ROLE OF INTERCESSORS (level one)

Pray daily if possible or on a regular basis. No condemnation or guilt if they are not able to pray daily.

Pray as Holy Spirit leads and directs.

Pray but don’t counsel. The Lord does often reveal His plans to those that pray. If you receive a Scripture or prophetic word for us then please ask the Lord if you are to share it and the timing of it if so.

The intercessor should not talk about or entertain anyone who talks about the leaders or the family. Does not repeat anything we as leaders ask for prayer about. If there is uncertainty about the confidentiality of a request, ask permission to share with others.

Expect the intercession to be a sacrifice of love.

Stand in the gap as the enemy is looking to attack in places of weakness.
God’s defense is when intercessors stand in the gap where the wall of protection is crumbling down. Ask the Lord to rebuild vulnerable places in the leader’s life. It is important for the intercessor to be on guard to protect your heart against disillusionment, disappointment and even criticism against us as leaders.


Role of Prayer Partners (level two)

These partners and intercessors are vital to any ministry. They pray and have a heart to pray not only for the ministry but for Canada, and or for the Nations.

Prayer requests will focus more on specific needs for a region, for one or more leaders in a region or nation.

Keep a record of the requests Pray daily or on a regular basis for 4–6-week period or until notified otherwise.
